Entrepreneur has a few characteristics, that are showed below (Scarborough and Zimmerer (1993: pages 6-7) :

1. Desire for responsibility

“Merupakan kepemilikan terhadap rasa tanggung jawab atas usaha-usaha yang dilakukannya. Seseorang yang mempunyai rasa tanggung jawab maka akan senantiasa mawas diri”.

2. Preference for moderate risk

“Lebih memilih risiko yang moderat, artinya selalu menghindari risiko baik yang terlalu rendah maupun yang terlalu tinggi”.

3. Confidence in their ability to success

“Memiliki kepercayaan diri untuk memperoleh kesuksesan”.

4. Desire for immediate feedback
I am gonna explanation this point in Bahasa Indonesia:
“Selalu menghendaki umpan balik dengan segera”.

5. High level of energy

“Memiliki semangat dan kerja keras untuk mewujudkan keinginannya demi masa depan yang lebih baik”.

6. Future orientation

“Berorientasi serta memiliki persepsi jauh ke depan”

7. Skill at organizing
I am gonna explanation this point in Bahasa Indonesia:
“Memiliki keterampilan dalam mengorganisasi sumber daya untuk menciptakan nilai tambah”

8. Value of achievement over money
I am gonna explanation this point in Bahasa Indonesia:
“Lebih menghargai prestasi daripada uang”

Note:
a real entrepreneur will always have a high motivation to achieve goals that has been targeted.
They have a good intuition in business, hard worker and never give up when they had a problems in their business.
They dare to take a risk, like challenge, and keep their eye open in all business opportunities.

ABSTRACT

Small medium enterprises (SMES) for “Kerupuk” Industries is one of the type works among people of Karadenan village since 1960 these enterprises were manage an inherited from generation to generation.
This article focuses on strategic SMES business on a “Kerupuk Karadenan” through marketing mix.
The result has shown that business strategic developed by correlative based on 1. Positioning product have a correlative with design product, taste and differentiation product; 2. Flexibility in prices; 3. Multi level of distribution channel 4. Informal promotion.
